Mushfiqur Rahim was the chief architect of Bangladesh’s win in the first T20I against India. The former Bangladesh captain starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 60 to master the chase. It was his knock that helped Bangladesh cross the finishing line and create history. The win was Bangladesh’s first against India in T20Is.

The wicketkeeper-batsman was at his innovative best as he employed pull shots, a scoop as well as orthodox shots to negate India’s bowlers. The best moment of the match came in the 19th over when the visitors needed 22 runs from the last two overs. By the time the over ended, Bangladesh needed only four.

The match could have gone either way but Mushfiqur Rahim hit four boundaries off as many balls off Khaleel Ahmed to put his team in the driver’s seat. The Tigers eventually crossed the finishing line with three balls to spare. Mushfiqur Rahim deservedly walked away with the Man of the Match award.

Well, the Bangladesh star failed to replicate his Delhi performance in the ongoing second T20I and the way Yuzvendra Chahal celebrated his wicket, it became clear that Indian players wanted to make Rahim pay for his match-winning knock in the first T20I.

Moreover, Rahim perhaps does not command much respect from the Indian team for the selfie incident in 2016. He had infamously celebrated India’s loss to West Indies in the 2016 World T20. Rahim had also celebrated animatedly after Bangladesh won the first T20I.

Rahim had managed just 4 runs before Chahal sent him back. The India spinner bowled a flighted delivery and Rahim went for his preferred sweep shot. However, he could not connect properly with the ball and ended up hitting it straight to Krunal Pandya at deep square leg. And as Rahim was making his way back to the pavilion, Chahal made sure to give him a send-off.

Here is a video of that incident:
