Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be unfortunate enough to miss the opening Test against Australia in Adelaide as he continues his recovery process from the concussion and hamstring injury. Ravindra Jadeja suffered a concussion and hamstring wound in the first T20 international against Australia in Canberra that forced him to miss the remaining two games. However, he revealed to have been recuperating well ahead of the remaining Tests.

Ravindra Jadeja was in an ominous form with the bat in the white-ball games though he was below par with the ball. The left-handed batsman smacked an unbeaten 66 in the third ODI followed by a quick-fire 44 in the first T20I – both of which resulted in India’s win. It was a sharp bouncer from Mitchell Starc in the opening T20 international in the last over of India’s innings that triggered Jadeja’s concussion.

The 31-year old could not take further part in that match, resulting in Yuzvendra Chahal coming in as a concussion substitute and Shardul Thakur replacing him for the remainder of the series. Moreover, Ravindra Jadeja had also battled a hamstring injury during that innings as he kept limping. However, in retrospect, it was the concussion injury that was responsible for keeping him out as revealed by BCCI’s statement.

On Monday, Ravindra Jadeja took to his official Twitter handle and uploaded a video where he was seen performing some workouts with some heavy equipment to keep himself fit. Jadeja has indeed been an asset to India’s Test side, having an ominous record in the format last year. He managed 440 runs in eight Tests in 2019 at 62.86 with fifties alongside 21 wickets too. With the form Jadeja is in currently, the southpaw could add some valuable runs down the order.
