Team India have once again made a vibrant start to the historic day-night Test against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Ishant Sharma drew the first blood before Umesh Yadav knocked over the Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque courtesy an outstanding catch from Rohit Sharma in the slip cordon to send early pressure to the visiting camp.

It is a historic occasion with many dignitaries present at the stadium. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Cheif Minister Mamta Banerjee rang the customary bell to begin the Test match. Besides, the players from the first India-Bangladesh Test in 2000 are also in attendance including former India skippers and notable personalities from other sports.

Put to bowl first, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav started posing tough questions with the much-debated pink ball. Imrul Kayes, who has been out of form, became the first prey to Ishant Sharma, who trapped Imrul after missing to play an incoming delivery. Reeling at 15 for one, Bangladesh were already in tatters as their skipper Mominul Haque walked out in the middle. However, he didn’t last long as Umesh sent him back for a duck.

Rohit Sharma grabs an one-handed stunner

Rohit Sharma grabbed an absolute stunner at the second slip to remove the Bangladesh skipper. Umesh Yadav struck the good length delivery to tail back in slightly as Mominul tried to defend only to get a thick edge. The ball flies but Rohit was alert enough to fly to his right and catch it one-handed in front of first slip. Rohit ensured that he has soft hands on that one for it to stick.
