Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is the latest eminent personality to come out in support of national football team captain Sunil Chhetri and the football team. The former India batsman has urged the fans to go to stadiums and support the team during the international games.

India skipper Virat Kohli had also come out in support of the football team, requesting the fans to support the team whenever it plays.

India is currently playing in the Four Nation International Cup. Chhetri and his men have made a bright start to the tournament by routing Chinese Taipei. They thrashed Chinese Taipei 5-0 with Chhetri leading the rout with a stunning hat-trick. However, reports suggested that the game witnessed a disastrous turnout of just 2,569 fans. Following the game, Chhetri had pleaded to fans across the country to back the Indian football team.

Since then, the Indian football star has been receiving widespread support and Tendulkar also did his bit. The celebrated cricketer took to Twitter to post a video, saying:

“It is really important that all of us  stand behind them.  Our athletes go through rigorous training sessions to bring laurels to our nation.  The dream is to represent the nation and it is India. Guys we must stand behind out athletes, support them because getting the support from the well-wishers is the best tonic any athlete can have.  Let’s stand behind our team and support them. Come on Team India. This is our time to show our support to all our athletes.  And we wish all the athletes all the best.”

Earlier, Chhetri had taken to social media, requesting the fans to watch them play at the stadium whenever International matches are being played.
