Watch: Sanju Samson Gets The Loudest Cheer On Field In Thiruvananthapuram

Sanju Samson is in his home town Thiruvananthapuram with Team India for the second T20I against West Indies today. The right-handed batsman, who made his T20I debut way back in 2015, is still waiting for his second appearance for Team India. He was recalled into the T20I side after a long gap of four years for the three-match series against Bangladesh last month.
With skipper Virat Kohli rested for the Bangladesh assignment, it was speculated that Sanju Samson would play in the team as a specialist batsman. But to everyone’s surprise, Samson warmed the bench throughout the series as India stuck with their tried and tested combinations. Uncapped Shivam Dube did get a chance but only because he was an allrounder.

Sanju Samson also warmed the bench for the first T20I of the ongoing series against West Indies in Hyderabad. He was initially not a part of the squad but later replaced an injured Shikhar Dhawan in the team. Samson, nonetheless, received a warm reception when he walked out at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
The spectators were absolutely delighted after seeing Samson and made their emotions clear by chanting his name. Samson was all smiles after receiving so much adulation. Head coach Ravi Shastri was also happy with the reaction as he playfully tried to hit the batsman.
Here is a clip showing the reception received by Samson:

No change in fortunes:
The fans, meanwhile, would have been disappointed after hearing the team combination for the second game. At the toss, skipper Virat Kohli confirmed that the hosts are going unchanged for the second game after winning the first one comprehensively. Well, if the Men in Blue win this game, they can give Samson a chance in the third T20I in Mumbai.
