Some times the best efforts on the field do not really culminate into a wicket but more often than not, they play a big role in deciding the outcome. Something similar happened in the just-concluded fifth T20I between India and New Zealand. The Men in Blue won the close game by seven runs to win the series 5-0.
However, the result could have been different had Sanju Samson not made a stunning save that definitely saved for runs for the team. Giving an example of his supreme athleticism, Sanju Samson made an acrobatic save in the eighth over to save a certain six.

On the final deliver of the over, Ross Taylor pulled a Shardul Thakur delivery towards mid-wicket and the ball looked set to cross the ropes. Sanju Samson, on his part, was patiently waiting for the ball to come to him before he realised that it would go over him.
But before the ball could land outside the rope, Sanju Samson made a magical jump and flicked the ball mid-air before landing on his shoulder beyond the ropes. What made that save even more spectacular was that he was facing towards the crowd while being airborne. Taylor, who like everyone else would have thought that the ball would land outside the rope, only took two runs.
Here is a clip of that stunning effort from Sanju Samson:

Meanwhile, India won the game to seven runs. Batting first, the visitors posted 163 for 3 in the allotted 20 overs. Rohit Sharma top-scored for the hosts, scoring 60 before retiring hurt. In reply, New Zealand ended up on 156 for 9. The Black Caps were off to a disastrous start as they were reduced to 17 for 3.
However, a 99-run stand between Tim Seifert and Ross Taylor put them in a strong position before they suffered an almighty collapse to end up on 156 for 9. Both Taylor and Seifert scored fifties but their efforts were not enough to ensure a win for the side.
