Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi was caught chewing tobacco in a national event held in Pakistan. The full details of the occasions are still unknown.

However, the video which has been shared by a Pakistan journalist Ali Salman Alvi and has become viral on social media. An ex-cricketer chewing a tobacco in a national event is indeed a shameful thing.

However, there is no denying the fact that this is not the first time Afridi has been involved in a controversy. He has come under the scanner time and again for his off-field exploits.

In the video, Afridi can be seen looking here and there and then putting the chewing tobacco inside his mouth. Chewing tobacco is one of the cheapest things available in the Indian subcontinent.

Hence it is a very unfortunate incident to see one of the Pakistan superstars indulging in cheap stuff especially during a national event.

Shahid Afridi is one of the finest cricketers to play for Pakistan

Afridi, who recently hails Alastair Cook, has been one of the finest cricketers to have played for Pakistan, and there is indeed no doubt about that.

Over the years, star all-rounder has been a sensational performer for Pakistan, especially in the limited-overs format. He was one of the most feared batsmen during his heydays.

Afridi held the record for the fastest century in One-day International cricket for a long time. Later on, Corey Anderson and then AB de Villiers eclipsed his record.

Afridi was also a brilliant bowler in the ODI format. As a leg-spinner, Afridi ended his ODI career with 398 wickets. He didn’t use to turn the ball much, but his pace variations were enough to unsettle any batters.

As a Test cricketer, he wasn’t as successful. However one of his finest knocks came against India back in 1999.

Afridi also came back from retirement on three occasions. His last international match was for the ICC World XI against the Windies earlier in the year.

With tobacco emerging as a recent incident, Shahid Afridi has been in the news also for the wrong reasons.

Recently he got into trouble when said that the people of India gave him more love and affection than the people of Pakistan.
