Watch: Shikhar Dhawan Saves A Six With Stunning Fielding Effort

Shikhar Dhawan made a big mark in the third and final T20I against Windies on Sunday. After a poor ODI series and lukewarm outings in the first two T20Is, the southpaw roared back to form with a match-winning knock of 92. As a result, India beat Windies by six wickets to clean sweep the three-match series.

Before his latest knock, Shikhar Dhawan had not managed to score a fifty in his last seven T20I innings. But he found his form just when India needed him the most.

Batting first, Windies ended up scoring a challenging 181 for 3. Fabian Allen starred with the bat for them, scoring a 24-ball fifty. In reply, India were off to a shaky start. They lost the in-form Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul cheaply to find themselves reeling at 45 for 2.

India were under pressure as was Dhawan. But it was the perfect platform for Dhawan to show his class and he led a steep chase admirably in the company of young Rishabh Pant (58). The duo stitched together a 130-run stand for the third wicket to set up India’s sensational last-ball victory.

Dhawan departed on the penultimate delivery of the match after scoring 92. It is now his highest score in T20Is. His previous highest T20I score was 90 against Sri Lanka during the Nidahas Trophy this year.

Dhawan, meanwhile, also made a notable contribution on the field that made a lot of difference in the end. In the sixth over, the Delhi star saved a certain six with a spectacular piece of fielding.

Meanwhile, speaking after the game, Shikhar Dhawan praised Pant and went on to say that he is not affected by others’ comments.

“It was a good match. We lost two early wickets, and I knew I had to stay at the crease. Rishabh [Pant] played well, tremendous partnership between us. He batted really well. I knew he was going after the bowlers so I took a backseat and then I joined the party after he hit a few huge sixes. It doesn’t matter to me what people say, and I just back myself and back my game,” Dhawan, who was named man of the match, said at the post match presentation ceremony.
