Watch: Suryakumar Yadav Executes Helicopter Shot To Perfection

Suryakumar Yadav successfully managed to hit a helicopter shot for a big six during the Deodhar Trophy final between India C and India B.

No matter how unorthodox MS Dhoni’s techniques with the bat and gloves are, the players from across the globe try to copy it. And why not? After all, Dhoni has excelled so much with his home-made technique and is one of the most decorated keeper-batsmen in the history of the game.

Well, one of the unorthodox shots from his batting is the helicopter shot. The shot is the act of flicking the bat toward the leg side when facing a yorker or a fuller-length delivery, and finishing the stroke with a flourish by twisting the bat in an overhead circle. There is absolutely no doubt that Dhoni brought this shot in international cricket and since then several players have tried out their hands on it.

And the latest one is Mumbai star Suryakumar Yadav. The Mumbai star tried out the shot during the recently-concluded final Deodhar Trophy final between India B and India C. Playing for India C, he struck 39 off just 18 deliveries. The knock was studded with 4 sixes and one of them was a helicopter shot. It came in the 45th over bowled by leg-spinner Mayank Markande.

Markande bowled one just outside the off-stump. But Suryakumar Yadav executed a helicopter shot to hit it straight over the bowler’s head for a maximum.

Talking about the game, India C beat India B by 29 runs to lift the trophy. Batting first, India C piled up 352 for 7. Ajinkya Rahane and Ishan Kishan starred with the bat by scoring centuries.

In reply, India B were all out for 323 in the 47th over. Shreyas Iyer tried his best and scored 148 before becoming the seventh wicket to fall.
