Thailand did not win a single game in their maiden T20 World Cup appearance but it is safe to say that they have won each and every heart with their sheer excitement and passion for the game. Having only played their first international match in 2007, Thailand won the Asian Cricket Council’s championship in 2013 before qualifying for the World Cup for the first time this year.

In the last two years, they won 17 consecutive games against the likes of Nepal, China, Ireland and Scotland and eventually made it to the T20 World Cup. In the process, they became the first country from south-east Asia to qualify for the tournament.

And while they might need some more time to establish themselves at the highest stage of the game, one can say that they have already started winning people’s hearts. The ladies from Thailand have been a feel-good story of the World Cup. They have brought a unique attitude to the game by bowing to the crowd, ground staff and umpires in a show of respect.

And they bowed out of the competition in a similar manner on Tuesday. While rain dashed their hopes of winning their first-ever game in T20 World Cup, it did not dampen their spirit. After they posted a record 150 for 3 against Pakistan, they entertained the crowd by dancing on the sidelines.

Here is a clip of the dance from the Thailand players:

Meanwhile, 150 for 3 posted by Thailand is their highest score in T20 World Cup. They hit 23 boundaries during their innings which is 6 more than what they had managed in their first three games.

Nattakan Chantam top scored with 56 while her opening partner Nattaya Boochatham hit 44. Chantam’s 50-ball knock was her country’s first ever half-century at a World Cup.
