Pakistan’s terrible record in Tests in Australia is just looking set to be extended further as they are staring down the barrel in the ongoing first Test at Adelaide Oval. After losing the series-opener by an innings and five runs, the tourists are headed for yet another heavy defeat after finishing day on a precarious 96 for 6 in reply to Australia’s mammoth total of 589 for 3.

David Warner starred with the bat for the hosts, scoring a career-best 335 not out to put his side on top. He was well-supported by Marnus Labuschagne as the two shared a record stand of 361 runs. The 361-run stand is now the highest stand for any wicket in day-night Test. Shaheen Afridi broke the stand when he dismissed Labuschagne for 162.

The dismissal, however, did not affect Warner much as he went on to complete his double ton and then his triple ton. Australia’s bowlers then came out all guns blazing to blow away Pakistan’s top and middle-order. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers as he wreaked havoc with the pink ball. The left-arm pacer took four for just 13 while Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood picked one wicket apiece to put the hosts in command.

Tim Paine’s stunner:

On a day that belonged entirely to David Warner, Australia captain Tim Paine managed to attract the limelight for a while after taking an absolute blinder behind the stumps. He took a stunning diving catch to send back Iftikhar Ahmed. The Pakistan batsman went after a short and wide delivery from Starc but only ended up edging it.

At first, it looked like Joe Burns would catch the ball at first slip. However, Tim Paine came flying in from his position and caught the ball with one hand while being airborne.

Here is a clip of that catch from Tim Paine:
