Watch: Ugly Scenes In Stadium As Pakistan And Afghanistan Fans Fight

Afghanistan, on Saturday, gave fancied Pakistan a mighty scare in Leeds before going down by 3 wickets. The game lived up to its expectations and turned out to be one of the best games of the competition. Fortunes swung from one side to another before Pakistan managed to cross the line in the very final over of the innings.

Chasing 228 for victory, Pakistan were in all sorts of trouble after being reduced to 81 for 3. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were reeling at 156 for 6 at one stage. The equation was finally down to 48 runs from the last 6 overs and Afghanistan were looking like the favourites. However, the whole complexion of the game changed in a blink of an eye when captain Gulbadin Naib came to bowl the 46th over.

Naib bowled poorly and ended up conceding 18 runs in the 46th over that saw Pakistan taking back the control. Despite Shadab Khan being run out with 22 runs needed for victory, Imad Wasim and Wahab Riaz held their nerve. With six run needed from the final over, Naib came to bowl again and failed again, conceding the runs in four balls.

But the brilliant game of cricket was marred by fan trouble inside and outside of the stadium. Even before the start of the match, the fans from both countries attacked at each other. But the worse came right after the end of the thrilling game with the fans hitting each other inside the stands. Some fans were even seen throwing missiles at each other during the ugly scenes.

Meanwhile, the win has propelled Pakistan to the fourth spot in the points table and has kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the semifinal. On the other hand, Afghanistan are still winless in the competition.
