Team India enforced a follow-on on South Africa on day three after bowling them out for mere 162 runs in Ranchi. The Proteas needed massive improvement to save the Test match, but now it is only a matter of time that the host walks home with the game. Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami have bowled terrifically in this game and they were once again on the money in the second innings.

Meanwhile, South Africa started the day with Zubayr Hamza launching a counterattack to keep the Indian bowlers at bay. However, it didn’t work for long as Umesh cleaned up Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis’ timber.

Since then, Hamza and Temba Bavuma stitched a partnership adding 89 runs with the young Hamza bringing his half-century. But the resistance didn’t last long as Indian spinners joined the party to clean up South Africa.

Shahbaz Nadeem, who removed Bavuma to claim his maiden Test wicket, picked one more while Ravindra Jadeja returned with two before Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami cleaned off the tail for mere 162 runs. India skipper Virat Kohli was quick to inflict a follow-on and Umesh rewarded him with a wicket in the first ball of the second over.

The India pacer pitched it on a good length around middle and off. Quinton de Kock’s footwork went nowhere and ended up playing down the wrong line in defence. There was a hint of away movement and that was enough to beat the outside edge and rip out the off pole.

It was a delightful sight for any fast bowler and Umesh Yadav jumped in joy. So, the move to promote de Kock as an opener hasn’t begun well for South Africa as they face another staggering defeat.
