Watch: Virat Kohli And Tim Paine Sledge Each Other In Perth

The first eight days of the ongoing Test series between India and Australia surprisingly did not witness any heated altercation or serious sledging between the players. The famous rivalry has brought out the ugly sides of the players from both the teams on most of the occasions. Sledging, banters and controversies have always been an integral part of the India-Australia rivalry.

But before the start of the series India skipper Virat Kohli had hinted that he would avoid any altercation. On the other hand, the Australians have mellowed down since the ball-tampering scandal. Well, it was just a matter of time before the controversies hit the series. On the third day of the ongoing second Test in Perth, captains Virat Kohli and Tim Paine traded verbal barbs as the game entered its business phase.

The Indian fielders had went up in unison for a caught-behind appeal in the final over of the day in a desperate attempt to send back Paine. But the umpire gave his decision in the batsman’s favour, much to the anguish of the Indian fielders.

A miffed Kohli then tried to get under Paine’s skin by saying: “If he messes it up, it’s 2-0.”

Paine then hit back by saying: “You’ve got to bat first, big head”.

Here is a clip of that moment involving Virat Kohli and Tim Paine:

The India skipper looked his usual self as he encouraged teammates and fans in equal measure; passionately gesturing, appealing and celebrating. At one stage, he even urged the fans in crowd to make more noise as India tried to take control over the proceedings.

But Kohli’s attitude did not go down well with many including former Australia batsman Mike Hussey.

“Kohli is out of control … I don’t like his attitude at the moment,”  Hussey said on Macquarie Sports Radio.

Former captain Allan Border remarked on Fox Cricket: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen any captain carry on like that.”

But at the end of the day, things came under control as both the captains spoke to each other and swapped thumbs up.

Australia, meanwhile, ended the day on 134 for 4, leading India by 175 runs.
