Before the start of the T20I series in New Zealand, India skipper Virat Kohli had said that revenge is not on the minds of his team after the defeat to the Black Caps in last year’s World Cup semifinal. Virat Kohli had called the New Zealand players ‘nice’ and was later seen sitting with Kane Williamson outside the boundary and having a chat.

Well, all those past talks and the camaraderie took the back seat on Saturday when India were under pressure in the ongoing second Test in Christchurch. The visitors had their back against the wall in the must-win clash when day two started. Trailing the series 1-0, India had failed to take any wicket on day one after being bowled out for 242.

New Zealand were 63 for no loss at the start of the day before India’s bowlers made a brilliant comeback. Tom Blundell and Tom Latham could add only three runs to the overnight score when the former was dismissed by Umesh Yadav. Three runs later, India had the big fish in their bag when Jasprit Bumrah dismissed New Zealand captain Kane Williamson cheaply.

The India fast-bowler made the right-handed batsman edge an outgoing delivery behind the stumps to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. And as soon as Pant caught the catch, Virat Kohli started celebrating the wicket wildly. He looked pumped up and was also seen hurling some abuses while looking in the direction of Williamson who was silently walking back towards the dressing room.

India, meanwhile, picked up five wickets in the first session to turn the game on its head. The visitors took the five wickets for 79 runs to reduce New Zealand to 142 for 5 at the end of the first session.
