Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla went all emotional on Wednesday (November 1) as one of city’s favorite boys- Ashish Nehra– was playing his last international game. And while the fans were extremely delighted to witness one of Indian cricket’s great servant bidding farewell to the game in front of them, no body was as happy as Virender Sehwag.
The swashbuckling opener, whose memory with Nehra goes back to the time when both rode on Scooter to the Feroz Shah Kotla in 90s before making it to international cricket, shares a great rapport with the bowler and so when Jasprit Bumrah did not take any wicket in the 19th over which gave Nehra a chance to bow out of the game on a high, he could not refrain himself from dancing. With the win almost in India’s grasp, Sehwag was in a jolly mood in the commentary box and could not check his emotions when Nehra came to bowl the last over of the innings.
In addition to Nehra’s retirement and India’s win, Sehwag had another reason to celebrate- his fellow commentator and former India teammate VVS Laxman was celebrating his 43rd birthday and the Nawab of Najafgarh enjoyed the memorable day by shaking his leg. It should be also remembered that earlier this week, the gate number 2 of the stadium was named after Sehwag.
