Watch: Wanindu Hasaranga Traps Shikhar Dhawan Plumb In Front Of Wicket

Wanindu Hasaranga dealt another body blow on India as he trapped the experienced opener Shikhar Dhawan plumb in front to claim his second wicket of the match.

It all happened on the final ball of the 12th over of the Indian run-chase.

Dhawan was firmly on the backfoot, something that wasn’t a good idea against a spinner who can bowl it at a quicker pace

And, Hasaranga did exactly that. He got one to skid off the surface and pin Dhawan right in front of the wicket.

Dhawan was looking to defensively guide the ball towards the on-side for a single but such was the pace at which Hasaranga delivered the ball that he missed it altogether and ended up getting pinned in front.

Hasaranga and the rest of the Sri Lankans went up immediately but the umpire may be thought that the ball was spinning down the leg-side.

Captain Dasun Shanaka immediately went for the referral and it paid off as ball tracking showed that the ball would have struck Dhawan’s middle-stump.

Dhawan fell on a 38-ball 29 and with India having lost three wickets for just 65 runs it looked like Sri Lanka were firmly in the driving seat.

However, Suryakumar Yadav and Manish Pandey’s entertaining 50-run-stand helped India claw back into the game.

But, just as it looked that the duo were bossing the game, Manish Pandey got run-out at the non-striker’s end.

Hardik Pandya survived a caught & bowled opportunity as Dasun Shanaka shelled the return catch.

However, he wasn’t that lucky four deliveries later as he chipped one straight to midwicket to put Sri Lanka on the brink of a well-deserved victory.
