Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with the bat on Tuesday as India thrashed Pakistan by ten wickets to storm into the final of the ICC U19 World Cup. What promised to be an exciting contest turned out to a one-sided affair, thanks to India’s all round brilliance.

Despite losing the toss and asked to bowl first, India never looked on the backfoot in the game. The bowlers came up with a stunning show to bowl out Pakistan for just 172 inside 44 overs. Despite Haider Ali and Ruhail Nazir scoring fighting fifties, India never let Pakistan get off the hook.

Barring Nazir and Haider, only Mohammad Haris (21) managed to score in double digits. Pakistan were off to a shaky start with their star man Mohammad Huraira departing for just 4. Fahad Munir was next to depart for a 16-ball duck before Haider and Nazir shared 62 runs for the third wicket.

The stand was the biggest one for Pakistan as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The next highest stand was of 28 runs between Haris and Nazir. Once Haris departed to leave his side five down for 146, the floodgates opened and Pakistan were eventually all out for 172 in the 44th over. For India, Sushant Mishra picked up three wickets while Kartik Tyagi and Bishnoi picked up two wickets each.

In reply, India chased down the total without losing any wicket in the 36th over. Yashasvi Jaiswal and his opening partner Divyansh Saxena did not allow Pakistan to make a comeback in the game by sharing an unbeaten stand of 176 runs. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 105 while Saxena was on 59.

Stunning end to game:

Yashasvi Jaiswal could not have ended the match on a better note and his animated celebration after that pretty much proved it. With India needing three runs to win and he needing one to complete his century, Yashasvi hit a huge six off Aamir Ali to end the game in style.

As soon as the ball landed outside the boundary, a delighted Yashasvi Jaiswal raised his arm and kissed his locket. He then jumped and let out a roar as he celebrated his ton and India’s passage to the final.
