Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal produced the ball of the night during the first T20I against Sri Lanka, one that would make any leg-spinner proud.
It all happened during the second ball of the 7th over when the leg-spinner completely bamboozled Dhananjaya de Silva with a delivery that pitched on middle before turning sharply to knock over the latters off-stump.
Chahal may not have managed to pick another scalp but he compensated for it with disciplined bowling.
The leg-spinner didn’t let the Sri Lankan batters play their strokes, and, as a result, he ended up figures of 1/19 in four overs.
Meanwhile, India successfully defended what Shikhar Dhawan admitted in the post-match presentation was an under-par score of 164.
While the spin duo of Chahal and debutant Varun (1/28) bowled really well during the middle overs, the hero of the win proved to be the seam-bowling duo of Deepak Chahar (2/24 in 3 overs) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who knocked over the Sri Lankan middle and lower order in his second spell.
Bhuvi registered figures of 4/22 in 3.3 overs and he was eventually adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for the second time in as many T20Is.
As for Sri Lanka, Charith Asalanka once again impressed with his skills and temperament as he top-scored with 26-ball 44 and he ended up being a one-man army as none of his other batters supported them during the run-chase.
