“We do need better selectors, for sure. Selectors’ job is not easy. Whenever they select 15 players, there will be talks that what will happen to the other 15. It’s a difficult job but their thinking in terms of modern-day cricket is not up to the mark. It’s my opinion,” he said.

The present selection panel consists of chief selector MSK Prasad, Sarandeep Singh, Gagan Khoda, Devang Gandhi and Gagan Khoda. It was expected that the incoming of Sourav Ganguly as BCCI’s President might also see a change in the selection panel but here has been no update on it yet. As per the constitution, the present panel can continue till 2021.

Talkin of Yuvraj, he made his comeback into the national side under the current selection panel. The selectors were impressed with his form in Ranji Trophy 2016/17 and rewarded him with a call-up for the home series against England, in 2017.
