The Indian captain Virat Kohli stated that the team is looking forward to the upcoming Test championship with all the enthusiasm. Kohli said that the number one team in the Test format will be fancying its chances in the Test championship. India will begin its Test championship campaign with a two-Test match series against West Indies.
The upcoming Test championship will witness the top nine team taking on each other in 71 Test matches across 27 series. The final of the Test championship will be played at Lord’s in 2021. The two top teams in the points table will take on each other in the final.

India will be favourites.
“We are awaiting the ICC World Test Championship with great enthusiasm as it adds context to the longest format of the game,” said India’s skipper, Virat Kohli said in an ICC media release.
“Test cricket is very challenging and coming out on top in the traditional form is always highly satisfying. The Indian team has done really well in recent years and will be fancying its chances in the championship.”
Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies are the nine teams which will face off each other in the Test championship.

Every series of the Test championship will be worth 120 points. Thus, a team can attain maximum points of 720. Each team will play six series in the Test championship. A particular team will play three series in home conditions whereas they will play three series in overseas conditions.
India will begin its Test championship with a two-Test match series against West Indies. The first Test match will take place at Antigua from August 22.
The Ashes series will commence the Test championship. The first Ashes Test will take place at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
India will play the first T20I against West Indies on 3rd August at Florida.
