West Indies, on Thursday, announced their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series of India. The Caribbean outfit will play three T20Is and as many ODIs against the hosts next month. The tour will start with the T20I series on December 6 in Hyderabad. Thiruvananthapuram and Mumbai will host the next two T20Is on December 8 and December 11 respectively.
Following that series the two teams will meet in three ODIs in Chennai (December 15), in Vizag (December 18) and on Cuttack (December 22). The visitors have kept faith in the players who recently played against Afghanistan in Lucknow. West Indies had played three ODIs and three T20Is against Afghanistan and won the ODIs but ended up on the losing side in the 20-over formats.

Veteran allrounder Kieron Pollard will continue to lead the side and will have Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran as the vice captains in ODIs and T20Is respectively. West Indies won their first ODI series since 2014 when they beat Afghanistan and will be looking to make the most of it against their fancied hosts. West Indies head coach Phil Simmons has already made it clear that his team faces a tough task against India.
“We have three matches in each format, so we wanted to give each squad a chance to compete against India. No disrespect to Afghanistan, but facing India will be a more difficult series, especially in the ODI. Our players really the hang of thing with the 3-0 series win and I believe we will move from strength to strength,” said Simmons.
“In the T20s this will be another chance for them to play and development, and again no disrespect to Afghanistan, this should be a stronger T20 country and we will look to see how they perform against India,” he added.
Meanwhile, Fabian Allen has recovered from a knee injury to make it to the T20I squad. The left-arm spinning allrounder was part of the squad that took on Afghanistan in Lucknow earlier this month but had to pull out after playing the first game. Denesh Ramdin, who missed part of that series with hamstring trouble, is also fit again.
