West Indies make three changes to World Cup squad
The team from the Caribbean Island had a dismal run in the tournament winning only two games against Pakistan in their opener and their last outing against Afghanistan. They had moments of brilliance throughout the competition but lacked consistency and will look to bounce back against India at their home side. West Indies struggled mainly due to their batting and will have to work on that front before they get on against Virat Kohli & Co.

John Campbell returned to the squad in place of Darren Bravo who had an awful World Cup. Meanwhile, the selectors have included Chris Gayle who expressed his desire to play against India at home before announcing his final retirement to international cricket. Gayle, who has 10,338 runs to his name, needs 11 to leapfrog batting legend Brian Lara (10,348) to be the highest run-scorer for West Indies.
West Indies head coach Floyd Reifer said Campbell, Chase and Paul have been brought back to add more balance to the squad. He also said that they have a good mixture of youngsters and experienced cricketers to strike the perfect balance. Reifer also stated that they need to redeem themselves from the World Cup debacle in the upcoming series against India.
“We have a mixture of some experienced and young ODI players,” said Reifer. “It is good to have Keemo, John and Roston back, and they will help to bring further balance to the team. Looking ahead to the series, I think we have a lot to build upon following the World Cup. We have retained a large number of players from the World Cup squad, so there is a lot to build on and I am looking forward to the Series,” Refier said.
