In an unfortunate turn of events, Rajasthan Royals’ pacer Oshane Thomas was involved in an accident. The West Indies star’ car overturned during the car collision before he was taken to a local hospital in Jamaica. Oshane Thomas was conscious when he was being taken to the hospital but the extent of the injuries is not known, according to Jamaica Observer.

The right-arm pacer is not a part of the West Indies squad for the ODI series in Sri Lanka. If not picked in the T20I squad, his next assignment will be the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his debut in IPL last year for Rajasthan Royals, taking five wickets in four games.

The West Indies Players’ Association wished speedy recovery to Oshane Thomas who last played for the West Indies in January this year.

“The West Indies Players’ Association extends best wishes to West Indies and Jamaica fast-bowler Oshane Thomas who was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, February 16 in Jamaica,” WIPA said in a press release.

“WIPA’s executive and staff would like to extend our sympathies to Oshane. We wish for him a speedy and full recovery,” it added.

Oshane Thomas became an overnight sensation in India after impressing in the cricket-obsessed nation in 2018. He made his international debut in 2018 against India in Guwahati. The pacer impressed one and all with his pace on the less friendly pitches and was soon rewarded with an IPL contract.

So far, he has played 20 ODIs and 10 T20Is for the West Indies, picking up a total of 36 international wickets. The Royals would be praying that the pacer recovers in time for the upcoming season of IPL which gets underway on March 29.
