Every sportsperson has his or her own style of playing the game. While some players like to play aggressive and take the bull by its horns, some others play the game in a sedate manner. Some players like to play mind games by distracting the opponents to gain the advantage. However, some other trust their game to take them over the line. Similarly, there is contrasting difference World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Cricket. Let try to see if Cricketers Were Wrestlers?

In fact, both sports are widely followed across the globe. On one hand, Cricket is a gentleman’s game and has its own pristine history. On the other hand, World Wide Wrestling has always kept the fans fascinated by its charisma. Furthermore, both of these sports are followed with passion in India.

Meanwhile, we try to relate some similarities between cricketers and wrestlers. Consequently, we try to look which cricketer would have suited to the style of a wrestler. Thus, we try to relate if Cricketers were Wrestlers.

1. Virat Kohli as Triple H:

Virat Kohli and Triple H can be likened.

Virat Kohli is one of the most aggressive cricketers in the game. Kohli is a kind of a player who doesn’t like to hold any punches like Triple H. However, there is no denying the fact that Kohli has cooled down in the recent past. Thus, the experience and maturity have been palpable in his leadership. Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world, however, he is still a work in progress as the captain of the side.

Similarly, Triple H had an aggressive style of play during his prime in WWE. Triple H always wanted to win at all cost and liked to give his 120% in the ring. He never backed out of a fight and always liked to put his opponent on the back foot even before the start of a fight. He led two groups during his fighting days, Evolution and D generation X and now he controls the entire WWE.

2. MS Dhoni as Chris Jericho

MS Dhoni is one of the smartest cricketers the game has ever seen. Dhoni likes to keep things as simple as he can and he has taken some of the shrewdest decisions in Indian cricket. The former Indian skipper was able to savor great success with his ‘out of the box’ thinking. Dhoni had a plan for every kind of situation and he wore a calm head on his shoulders.

On the other hand, Chris Jericho is also one of the smartest wrestlers in the WWE. Jericho had a fine finishing move in “Walls of Jericho”. Jericho was the first wrestler to triumph in Unified Championship. He had his strategies which helped in winning a lot of matches. Thus, it would have been fun had Cricketers were Wrestlers.

3. Shikhar Dhawan as Roman Reigns

Shikhar Dhawan and Roman Reigns.

Shikhar Dhawan had to wait a long time before breaking into the Indian side. Dhawan made his ODI debut in 2010 and had to wait in the wings for his opportunity. However, once Dhawan got a chance to play for the national side, he was able to tick the right boxes. The southpaw batsman made a rollicking start against Australia as he set the stage on fire in 2013. Furthermore, he performed consistently in the Champions Trophy to win the Golden Bat award. In fact, Dhawan performances in major ICC tournaments has been staggering.

Similar, Roman Reigns had a tough time in making the cut in the World Wrestling Entertainment. However, he was able to justify the statement that “Well begin is half job done”. Reigns made a fine start in the Wrestling world with his partners Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. He made a huge impact on WWE with his alliance ‘SHIELD’.

4. Rohit Sharma as Seth Rollins

Rohit Sharma has a plethora of talent under his belt. India’s limited overs deputy is the only International batsman to score three triple hundred in the 50-overs format. In fact, Rohit Sharma is the most improved batsman in the last five years. Sharma has been a consistent performer since he started to open the Indian innings in the Champions Trophy of 2013. Furthermore, Rohit is the second-ranked batsman in ODI cricket and has been instrumental in the success of the team.

Similarly, Seth Rollins had tonnes of talent when he came on the big stage in WWE. In fact, he was the founder of his alliance with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, known as the SHIELD. However, he went on to backstab his partners in the back and subsequently, became a world champion. Furthermore, he also got in a tussle with Triple H, which hampered his progress in WWE.

Rohit Sharma and Seth Rollins had similar kind of talent and they justify if Cricketers were Wrestlers.

5. Bhuvneshwar Kumar as Chris Benoit

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done a fine job for the Indian team in the recent past. Kumar has the skills to move the ball both ways. In fact, Kumar didn’t have pace in his repertoire in the initial days. However, he worked hard on his game and fitness. Subsequently, he was able to extract pace which helped him in reaping fruits. Kumar is right on the money with his line and length. Furthermore, he can hit the blockhole with his yorkers in the death overs. However, Bhuvneshwar always likes to keep a check on his emotions.

Similarly, Chris Benoit never expressed himself in the ring. The wrestler had a huge impact on the WWE universe.  Benoit won the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Wrestlemania XX by beating Triple H.

Thus, it was interesting to draw conclusions if Cricketers were Wrestlers.
