Virat Kohli is currently the best batsman in the world. In fact, there is no doubt that the current Indian skipper is the most consistent batsman in the world. However, there was a time when Kohli thought his career was finished after he played a rash shot against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2009 Champions Trophy.

However, Kohli was taking baby steps in his initial phase of the career in 2009. Kohli recalled the incident when he was called into the team to replace Yuvraj Singh who had a fractured finger. But Kohli could not going and was dismissed cheaply. Kohli scored only 16 runs from 24 balls in that match and he was dismissed by Shahid Afridi.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli worked hard at his game and he is currently the best in the business. There were doubts over Kohli’s successful career and the batsman was able to find all the answers.

“Tense was Champions Trophy 2009 where Yuvi fractured a finger and I was flown in and in two days time I was playing against Pakistan at Centurion. I hadn’t experienced anything like that before.

“And I played a very bad shot. I couldn’t sleep till 6 in the morning, I kept looking at the ceiling thinking that’s it. I am finished. That was the most tensed moment I have experienced,” Kohli said on the eve of the India vs Pakistan World Cup 2019 match in Manchester on Saturday.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli said that there are many funny incidents on the field. Kohli shared one such instance between Shahid Afridi and Wahab Riaz but didn’t disclose the details.

“There have been many funny moments over the years. I can’t explain the incident properly, it happened during the World Cup 2011. In Mohali, there was a little incident which I saw from the opposition’s side which I elaborate here. The incident involved Shahid Afridi and Wahab Riaz. It was very funny in that pressure situation,” Kohli said.

Meanwhile, Kohli has taken giant strides in the cricket world and he is number one batsman in ODI and Test rankings. Kohli will like to continue his good form going against arch-rivals Pakistan which will take place at Manchester on 16th June.
