The Windies thumped Bangladesh by an innings and 219 runs in the opening Test at the Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua to go 1-0 up in the two-match series.

It was a heck of a bowling performance by Windies, as they bowled out Bangladesh for 43 and 144, respectively in two innings. Kemar Roach bagged five wickets in the 1st innings while Shanon Gabriel achieved the feat in the 2nd.

Kemar Roach was quite brilliant in the 1st innings. Miguel Cummins supported him quite brilliantly and bagged three wickets. Bangladesh batters were very poor in their approach. Barring a 25 from the blade of Liton Das, none of them could get past the double digits. Also, 43 happens to be the lowest score for Bangladesh in Tests so far.

Skipper Jason Holder also chipped in with a couple of wickets. Windies batted quite brilliantly in their only innings and went on to amass a commendable 406 on the board.

Kraigg Brathwaite smashed a sensational century (121) which included 11 fours. Devon Smith and Shai Hope also scored useful half-centuries to take the score over the 200-mark.

For the visitors, it was Mehedi Hasan and Abu Jayed who bagged three wickets each. However, the score of 406 was always going to be a huge total especially after Bangladesh were bowled out for 43 in the 1st innings.

It was always going to be a formality from there on for Windies, as the lead of 340 appeared like a mountain to climb.

Bangladesh was yet again bowled out for 144 in their 2nd essay. The only half-centurion was Nurul Hasan who scored 64 off 74 deliveries. Shanon Gabriel bagged five wickets while Jason Holder also scalped three scalps.

It will also stand as one of the biggest ever wins for Windies with a huge victory.
