Sri Lanka Sports Minister Dayisiri Jayasekera was confident of the fact that he would go to any extent in dissolving the current Sri Lanka Cricket Administration to resurrect the future fortunes of the Island nation who are currently going through a torrid time. It has been a difficult transition phase for the Lankans the current administration has been blamed for their poor performance in the recent past.
Jayasera referring to the poor showing by the island nation said:
“Give me a little time to resurrect things. I will not hesitate even to dissolve the cricket board if it takes to that.” He further stated that through the SLC constitutional reforms he would take action to reduce the number of votes at the SLC election.
“I want to see it reduced to 75 from the present 140,” said Jayasekera who had stopped 9 Sri Lankan players from traveling to India yesterday especially because he was unhappy with the team combination. As per reports it has been learnt that the present voting system has promoted vote buying at the SLC auction which in turn will help the top businessman from the country to the enjoy heading the most prestigious governing body of the Island nation.
“I can’t politically interfere and appoint interim committees. But I am keen to see improvement in the local set up. The current Tier 1 and two will be amalgamated in a new provincial cricket set up,” Jayasekera said.
