Windies Forced to Practice in Dubai for India Series

The Windies Cricket team was denied permission of early an arrival to India by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They said it wasn’t possible for them to accommodate any ground to the Windies team, as the ongoing domestic season is in full flow. Hence, they have been forced to set up a camp at the ICC Global Academy in Dubai.

As per the initial schedule, the Windies were slated to arrive on 10th September for their tour which includes two Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is. However, they have been forced to reschedule their entry into the country. As of now, the visitors will be landing in India on 26th September if reports in the Times of India are to believed.

“We tried to get to India, but we were told that there weren’t any places available for us. It would have been nice to be in India. There would have been less travel,” West Indies coach, Stuart Law was quoted as saying by Times of India.

“The ICC Global Academy said they have cricket going on and thus offered us to come over here. But what you have to take we have got. We are enjoying ourselves,” he added.

As per the report, the BCCI cited the ongoing domestic schedule for not been able to provide facilities for Windies in India. Therefore, the Windies side is training in Dubai.

Windies to play India from 4th October

The Windies will begin their tour of India with the 1st Test from October 4 in Rajkot. The next Test in Hyderabad will follow on 12th October.

However, the ODI series will start from 21st October in Guhawati. The 2nd and the 3rd matches are scheduled on 24th and 27th October in Indore and Pune, respectively. Meanwhile, the 4th and the 5th ODI is scheduled to on 29th October and 1st November. The venues for the last two ODI’s are Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.

The T20I leg of the series will be played from 4th to 11th November. The first T20I will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The 2nd match will be played on 6th November in Lucknow while the final T20I will be played in Chennai.
