The Indian colts registered their first defeat in the Asia Cup after being beaten by Bangladesh Women by seven wickets.

The Indian Women after putting up a competitive total of 141 was quite ordinary with the ball. They failed to bag the crucial wickets which were needed in the middle overs. However, it wasn’t quite possible as Bangladesh reached the victory target with a couple of deliveries to spare. Rumana Ahmed was adjudged the Player of the Match for her brilliant all-round performance.

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bat. India lost Smriti Mandhana in the 2nd over, as Salma Khatun struck her plumb in front with a brilliant delivery. Pooja Vastrakar and Harmanpretty Kaur batted sensibly in the middle overs. However, Vastrakar was dismissed in the 9th over. On the other end, Harmanpreet was still going great guns.

Harmanpreet in particular yet again looked in fluent touch and scored a defiant 42 off 37 deliveries which included five fours. It was some tight bowling by Bangladesh, as the Indian colts were unable to press on the accelerator. Deepti Sharma also batted pretty sensibly and ended up scoring an impressive 32 off 28 deliveries. Her innings included five hits to the fence.
