Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah wants to make a place for himself in Pakistan’s World Cup squad. In fact, it is a dream of every player to represent his team in the World Cup. Thus, the leg-spinner also has the same dream to fulfill. Meanwhile, Yasir Shah is a regular member of the Pakistan Test team.
However, he fails to make his place in the ODI squad for the Pakistan team. Shah has been a consistent performer in the red ball version as he has thus far scalped 172 wickets in 30 Test matches. However, the leggie has only featured in 19 One Day Internationals for the Men in Green. He has only scalped 19 wickets in the 50-overs format.
Yasir Shah will need to come up eye-catching performances.
In fact, Yasir Shah recently played in five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe in July 2018. However, he could not make his place for the Asia Cup.
“ODI cricket is something I take seriously and is one format for which I would like to make a comeback for Pakistan in the future,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
The spinner went on to add that he is trying to perform to the best of his ability in the domestic season of Pakistan cricket. Thus, he is trying to make a strong case for himself.
“I have been participating in one-day games in domestic cricket, with the intention of proving my capabilities in this form of cricket so that I can make a comeback and possibly put myself in contention for a spot in Pakistan’s 2019 World Cup squad.”
Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah will need to come up with strong performances in the white ball version to push his name’s envelope for the World Cup team. Currently, Shadab Khan is doing a good job for Sarfraz Ahmed-led side and Shah will need to come up with eye-catching performances.
