With Babar Azam failing to make much of an impression as captain, Pakistan’s batting coach Younis Khan has urged the skipper to stamp his authority on the field. Ever since the right-handed batsman took charge of the limited-overs teams, things have only gone downhill for them.
As a batsman, Babar Azam has done well but has failed to inspire his teammates on the field. He is now facing criticism once again after Pakistan failed to defend 195 runs in the second T20I against England. And ahead of the do-or-die third and final T20I, Younis Khan has given some tips to the under-pressure captain.
The legendary batsman told Babar not to pay heed to the suggestions he is getting on the field and ‘take your own decisions’. He advised the Pakistan star to boldly take the decisions.
“It can get difficult for a captain when he is receiving so much advice and also suggestions on field as well. Whether the suggestions are coming from off the field or from inside the field, it’s meant for the betterment of the team,” said Khan.
“My advice to Babar is that as a leader is to try and take your own decisions; He should not be afraid of taking his decisions even if they are incorrect because you can always learn from those mistakes,” he added.
“If given the opportunity, I would like to continue as the batting coach of the team,” said Younis Khan.
He then went on to heap praise on wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan for his performances on the England tour so far.
“Watching Rizwan was the happiest moment on tour because after long time, we saw a wicketkeeper performing in England,” Younis Khan said.
