Yuvraj Singh And Mohammad Kaif Recall Natwest Trophy Triumph On Its 18th Anniversary

Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif took to their Twitter profiles to celebrate the 18th anniversary of their iconic heist at Lord’s that led to India scripting one of the most memorable wins of their white-ball cricket history.
13th July 2002 was a day when one of the most crucial chapters of Indian cricket was written when two youngsters- Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif- produced a partnership for the ages to help India the Natwest Trophy finals from the most precarious of situations.
Chasing a record 326 tuns to win the final, India got off to a brilliant start, courtesy Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag, who added more than 100 runs inside 15 overs for the first wicket.

Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh pulled India out of the dead
However, tragedy struck soon as India horrific collapse that saw the cream of their batting getting get back to the pavilion at the score of 146.
Enter Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif. The unheralded duo went about rebuilding the innings. They ran brilliantly between the wickets and in between, played a plethora of sumptuous stroked to revive Indian hopes.
Kaif and Yuvraj added 121 runs for the sixth wicket. The partnership was finally broken when Yuvraj top-edged one straight to short fine-leg.
Kaif [87*], however, kept his cool and along with first Harbhajan Singh, and then Zaheer Khan, took India past the finishing line, etching his name in the folklore of Indian cricket forever.
Reminiscing the triumph on its 18th anniversary, Yuvraj Singh wrote a heartfelt post on Twitter before taking a cheeky dig at the then English captain Nasser Hussain, who himself got a 100 in that game.
#Throwback to Natwest 2002 Final. Jaan laga di thi sab ne mil ke! We were young and we wanted to win. It was a wonderful team effort that helped us beat England and clinch the trophy in this nail-biting game ????@nassercricket just in case you forgot.” Yuvraj Singh wrote.
Mohammad Kaif, on the other hand, wrote-
“July 13, 2002: The day we climbed Mt Everest at Lord’s…Dada shirtless, Yuvi nerveless, Zak’s support priceless, Me fearless…memories endless,” Mohammad Kaif wrote.
