Former India and Punjab batsman Yuvraj Singh lashed out at the BCCI after Punjab failed to progress to the semifinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy due to a washout. Punjab???s quarterfinal against Tamil Nadu could not yield any result due to rain. In the end, Tamil Nadu progressed due to their superior run in the group stage.

Tamil Nadu had won all of their nine group games while Punjab had won five. But that was not the only aspect that would infuriate Punjab. Tamil Nadu played in Group C which had ten teams, while Punjab were in Group B which had nine. So even if Punjab had won every single league game, they would have been eliminated at Tamil Nadu???s expense.

The performance in the group stage, meanwhile, made little difference as Punjab had Tamil Nadu in all sorts of trouble. Tamil Nadu had managed a modest 174 for 6 in 39 overs when the showers came down. Punjab were asked to chase a revised target of 195 in the same number of overs. In reply, Punjab were 55 for 2 in the thirteenth over when rain came again and ended the game right there.

And on Tuesday, Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the turn of events. The legendary cricketer asked about the absence of reserve days for knockout games as he wrote:

???Again an unfortunate result for Punjab against TN in the Vijay Hazare tournament , again Punjab cruising and game abandoned due to bad weather, and on points we don???t go to semis ! Why don???t we have a reserve day ? Or is it domestic tournament it doesn???t really matter ?
@BCCI???

Meanwhile, Mumbai also had to pay the price for rain. Mumbai were in complete control of the proceedings against Chattisgarh when rain played spoilsport. Chattisgarh were on 190 for 6 in 45.4 overs when rain ended their innings. In reply, Mumbai were 95 for no loss in the 12th over while chasing a revised total of 192 in 40 overs when rain brought an end to the proceedings.
