A double century in T20s sounds quite implausible but the way modern-cricket is being played, not many would bet against it. The game is pretty much tilted in batsmen’s side nowadays and it would not be surprising at all if a batsman finally goes on to cross the 200-run mark in a T2o innngs.
Not very long ago, a double century by a batsman in the ODI seemed implausible too before Sachin Tendulkar scored one in 2010. Since then, the likes of Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Fakhar Zaman have scored double centuries in the 50-over format.
As of now, West Indies superstar Chris Gayle holds the record for the highest score in a T20. He played a monumental knock of 175 not out against the now-defunct Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League. In international cricket, Australia captain Aaron Finch holds the record for his 172-run knock against Zimbabwe.

And as the world awaits to see who becomes the first batsman to score a T20 double century, former India batsman Yuvraj Singh has named three batsmen he thinks could achieve that feat. While admitting that scoring a T20 double century is tough, Yuvraj Singh said that Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Rohit Sharma are the ones who can finally do it.
“It (T20 double ton) is very tough I feel,” Yuvraj Singh told Sport360. “But it is not impossible I would say. With the way the game of cricket is going these days, I feel nothing is impossible. So let us wait and hope for the best.
“Well Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers (South Africa) have retired from international cricket, oh wait, Gayle is still playing I forgot.
“In my eyes these were the two guys who could have scored a double hundred in T20I cricket. Rohit Sharma would be the third guy I can think of when it comes to a double T20 ton,” added Yuvraj Singh.
Rohit Sharma is the only batsman in the world with four T20I centuries to his name while Chris Gayle has two to his name. On the other hand, AB de Villiers has not scored a T20I century but has 4 centuries to his name in T20s.
