Former India batsman Yuvraj Singh took a hilarious dig at Ravi Shastri after the latter’s post on India’s triumph in 2011 World Cup. Thursday (April 2) marked the ninth anniversary of that famous win at the Wankhede Stadium. India had defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to win their second World Cup and first in 28 years.
India were up against a spirited Sri Lankan team which had blown away almost every team that came in its way to the final. Sri Lanka did well with the bat, riding on a classy Mahela Jayawardene (103 not out, 88 balls, 13 fours) century to post a challenging total of 274/6.
In reply, India lost the talismanic Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag early with Lasith Malinga being the destructor-in-chief. But from thereon, every thing went India’s way as Gautam Gambhir and later MS Dhoni took charge of the innings.
Gambhir bailed India out of trouble and scored a stunning 97 to set the platform for the win. Dhoni then went on to play an unbeaten knock of 91 to make sure India register the win without any trouble in the end. On the ninth anniversary of the win, the Indian cricket fraternity fondly remembered that famous win.
Ravi Shastri also took to Twitter to congratulate the World Cup-winning players but unknowingly irked Yuvraj Singh by not tagging him in the tweet. While posting his tweet, he tagged Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, writing:
“Many Congratulations Guys! Something you will cherish all your life. Just like we from the 1983 group “

Yuvraj Singh was quick to respond to the tweet as he taunted Ravi Shastri for not tagging him and MS Dhoni, writing:
“Thanks senior ! U can tag me and mahi also we were also part of it Face with tears of joy”
