Yuzvendra Chahal, India and Royal Challengers Bangalore leg-spinner, feels RCB is better equipped with death bowlers for the upcoming edition of the IPL.
The 13th edition of the cash-rich IPL is all set to kick off in the United Arab Emirates. The 53-match tournament will take place between September 19-November 10 behind closed doors.
And, once again all eyes will be on the Virat Kohli-led RCB, who have perennially underperformed in the history of the tournament. One of the prime reasons behind the Bangalore-based franchise not performing to its potential despite boasting of two of the greatest batsman in Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, is the lack of penetration in their fast bowling, especially at the death.
“I have played for RCB for 6 years, the problem has always been, other than the one year when we had Starc, our death-over bowling,” Yuzvendra Chahal said in a live chat with the former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra on his Facebook page.
‘We have covered the thing that we missed earlier’- Yuzvendra Chahal
Chahal highlighted the aforementioned fact before adding that the Bangalore-based franchise has bolstered their unit with quality death bowling options for the upcoming season.
“After 16 overs, I used to bowl the 17th over if required else we had only two bowlers to bowl the last 4 overs. But now we have 3-4 options to bowl the last 4 overs. So, we have covered the thing that we missed earlier,” Chahal added.
Apart from Dale Steyn, RCB roped in the likes of Isuru Udana, Kane Richardson, and Chris Morris in their ranks and it will be interesting to see if they are able to provide Kohli and his team the assurance in the death overs.
