Yuzvendra Chahal’s Parents Test COVID-19 Positive; Father Hospitalized With Severe Infection

India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal’s parents have tested positive for COVID-19, with his father admitted to hospital with severe symptoms, revealed Chahal’s wife Dhanashree Verma. Verma shared the news on Instagram.

Chahal, along with Dhanashree was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) set up in the recently postponed Indian Premier League’s 14th edition (IPL 2021). Chahal played all the 7 matches his franchise played and managed just 4 wickets in those outings. However, RCB had a pretty good IPL 2021 first half, winning 5 of their 7 matches, and are placed third on the IPL 2021 points table with 10 points, behind Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings.

My Father In Law Is Admitted And My Mother In Law Is Being Treated At Home: Dhanashree Verma

Dhanashree Verma, who got married to Yuzvendra Chahal in December 2020, confirmed on Instagram that her parent-in-laws had contracted the COVID-19 virus and her father-in-law had been hospitalized due to severe symptoms of the deadly virus.

“My parents in law have tested positive with severe symptoms. My father in law is admitted and my mother in law is being treated at home. I was at the hospital and I have witnessed the worst. I’m taking all the precautions, but Guys please stay at home and take proper care of your family,” Dhanashree posted.

Furthermore, in another Instagram story, Dhanashree revealed that her mother and brother had also been infected with the virus when she was a part of the IPL bubble recently.

“It’s been really tough and emotionally challenging for me. As first my mother and brother tested positive. I was in IPL bubble and felt extremely helpless but did monitor them time to time. It’s really difficult to stay away from your family. Fortunately, they’ve recovered,” Dhanashree wrote.

She also added that she lost her uncle and aunt to the COVID-19 virus saying, “But I lost my aunt and very close uncle due to Covid and its complications.”

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal will be in contention to be picked in the Indian team which will play three T20Is and 3 ODIs against Sri Lanka in July. He was not picked in the Indian Test team for the tour of England where Virat Kohli and co. plays the WTC final against New Zealand and five Tests against England.
