Sunrisers Hyderabad found a lot of loopholes in their squad this year after the disastrous start they had and they will be happy if the mega auction takes place next year. They do have a lot of options in their squad in the batting and the bowling department but their team combination has been the biggest problem for them.
They decided to drop David Warner who has been the most consistent performer for them over the years and the captaincy has been given to Kane Williamson. They have a lot of youngsters in their Indian contingent and they should look to bring in more experience into the side. Here are 5 former players Sunrisers Hyderabad should target in IPL 2022 auction.
5 Former Players Sunrisers Hyderabad Should Target:
Chris Jordan:
Chris Jordan is highly unlikely to be retained by the Punjab franchise if the mega auction takes place and he is one of the experienced T20 bowlers in the world. He has played for a lot of franchisees in the IPL and does impose a lot of threat with his pace and yorkers.
Jordan was part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 and 2018 seasons and he can be a handy batsman down the order too. Sunrisers cannot rely on their Indian medium pacers alone and they should try to bring in overseas quicks. Jordan will one of the players they will have their eye on.
Amit Mishra:
Sunrisers do not have many experienced Indian spinners in their squad and they have relied too much on Rashid Khan to provide the breakthroughs. Amit Mishra played for the Sunrisers franchise in the 2013 and 2014 editions and the veteran leg spinner can be a lethal addition to any squad.
Mohammad Siraj:
His confidence level is really high and poses a great threat for the batsmen of any quality. He picked up 6 wickets in 7 games for RCB this year but was very economical on most of the occasions and the skipper was always happy to give him the ball. He started his IPL career with Sunrisers in 2017 and will be on the radar of the franchise.
Karn Sharma:
With the lack of quality Indian spinners in the side, Sunrisers Hyderabad should certainly target Karn Sharma who can certainly be very economical even if he doesn’t get wickets. He is a handy left-hander down the order too and has been performing consistently in the domestic circuit.
Shakib AL Hasan:
Probably, the number one target for Sunrisers Hyderabad should be getting in Shakib AL Hasan back in the squad as he is a proven performer across the world and provides the perfect balance in the side. He is a very good top-order batsman and he can certainly win matches on his own with his left-arm spin.
Shakib was part of the Sunrisers franchise in the 2018 and 2019 editions and he has been a useful all-rounder for any side he plays. He has a lot of experience in the IPL and is a much-improved batsman than before. Shakib might just be the need of the hour for the franchise as Kolkata is most unlikely to retain him ahead of the mega auction.
