The ICC World Test Championship culminates with the final between India and Ne Zealand from June 18-22. It will be played in Southampton amid a small gathering of fans. The championship started back in 2019 and has been played for over two years. In this article, we take a look at the top 5 partnerships of the tournament.

Both India and New Zealand played some fantastic cricket to get to the final. New Zealand beat teams like India, West Indies, and Pakistan to reach the finals. They became the first team to reach the final after Australia postponed their tour to South Africa over COVID-19 concerns. India, on the other hand, beat teams like England and Australia to get to the final.

Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma 317 vs South Africa

Rohit and Mayank (215) added 317 runs against South Africa for the first wicket in Vizag. Mayank scored his maiden double ton in this Test match while R0hit scored 176. India scored a mammoth 502/7 in the first innings.

In reply, South Africa scored 431 in their first innings led by Dean Elgar’s 160. Rohit scored 127 in the second innings as India scored 323/4d and won the match by 201 runs as the Proteas were bowled out for 191. This culminates the top 5 best partnerships in the ICC World Test Championship.

Dimuth Karunaratne- DM de Silva: 345 vs Bangladesh

Karunaratne (244) added 345 runs for the fourth wicket with Dhananjaya De Silva against Bangladesh at Pallakele. Sri Lanka scored 648/8d in response to Bangladesh’s first innings score of 541/7.

It was a high-scoring Test match that ended in a draw. Karunaratne scored 244 and De Silva scored 166 as they made merry on a flat Pallakele wicket. Karunaratne was awarded the Man of the Match for his knock.

Zak Crawley- Jos Buttler: 359 vs Pakistan

Crawley (267) and Buttler added 359 runs for the fifth wicket in Southampton. This is the third-highest stand of the World Test Championship. Crawly scored his maiden double ton as Buttler scored a classy 152 to take England to a mammoth 583/8d.

Pakistan were yet again at the receiving end of some good bowling from James Anderson and Stuart Broad. Anderson took five wickets in the first innings and seven wickets as the match ended in a draw. Pakistan scored 273 & 187/4 in the two innings. Crawley won the Man of the Match for his efforts with the bat.

David Warner- Marnus Labuschagne: 361 vs Pakistan

Warner (335) and Labuschagne (162) added 361 for the second wicket in Adelaide. Warner got to his highest Test score in this match as he scored 335 as he hit 39 fours and a six. he also pipped Mark Taylor to become Australia’s highest Test scorer.

Aussies won the match by an innings and 48 runs after they scored 589/3d in the first innings. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins then got together to dismiss Pakistan for 302 & 239 in the two innings respectively.

Kane Williamson- Henry Nicholls: 369 vs Pakistan

Williamson (238) and Nicholls (157) added the highest partnership of the Word Test Championship against Pakistan. It yielded 369 runs for the fourth wicket at Christchurch earlier this year

Williamson scored his second double ton which powered the Kiwis to a mammoth 659/6d in the first innings. They won the game by an innings and 176 runs after bowling out Pakitan for 297 and 186.
