England National Cricket Team History

The first recorded incidence of a team with a claim to represent England comes from 9 July 1739 when an "All-England" team consisting of players from any part of England exclusive of Kent, played against "the Unconquerable County" of Kent.
England played the first-ever Test match in cricket in 1877 against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The England cricket team lost the game by 45 runs.
The fierce Ashes series against Australia began in the 1880s after a loss at home.
England featured in the first-ever ODI in 1971 when they locked horns against Australia. In 2005, they played their first-ever T20I against Australia.
