ICC Champions Trophy Schedule 2025
The ICC Champions Trophy will be making its highly-anticipated comeback in the year 2025. After the 2017 edition in England, the ICC decided to scrap the marquee event.
However, the governing body of the game later took a U-turn and decided to reinstate the Champions Trophy. The much-awaited 2025 edition will be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The first edition of the Champions Trophy was played in 1998 in Bangladesh. 9 teams participated in the 1998 edition of the tournament.
South Africa won the competition by beating West Indies in the final. So far, 13 teams have played at least once in the Champions Trophy while seven of those teams have played in each edition.
Apart from South Africa, India, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Pakistan have won the tournament too. India and Australia are the only teams to win the competition twice.
In the 2025 edition, a total of eight teams including hosts Pakistan will be participating. The other seven teams qualified for the tournament by finishing in the top eight of the 2023 World Cup.
With the Champions Trophy making its much-awaited return after a gap of almost a decade, the cricketing fraternity is eagerly waiting for the competition to begin. The announcement of the ICC Champions Trophy schedule will very much mark the beginning of the competition.
