ICC Champions Trophy Cricket Teams
The ICC Champions Trophy is one of the biggest tournaments of the game. It is one of the two marquee ICC events in the 50-over format with the World Cup being the other one.
23 years after the first-ever World Cup was played, the ICC conducted the first edition of the Champions Trophy in 1998.
The first two editions of the competition were held in Associate nations as the governing body of the game used the tournament to popularise cricket in different parts of the world.
While Bangladesh hosted the inaugural edition of the Champions Trophy, Kenya was the venue for the second edition. To date, 13 teams have played in the Champions Trophy. The 13 Champions Trophy teams are:
- Australia
- Bangladesh
- England
- India
- Kenya
- Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Pakistan
- South Africa
- Sri Lanka
- United States
- West Indies
- Zimbabwe
The number will increase to 14 when Afghanistan make their debut in the Champions Trophy in 2025.
Of the 13 teams that have already played in the tournament, seven teams have played in every edition. Seven different teams have won the tournament so far.
India and Australia have each won the tournament twice while South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Pakistan have each won once.
Australia are the only team to win back-to-back Champions Trophy titles. Sri Lanka are the only team to win the Champions Trophy at home.
