Aakash Chopra Questions India's Preparation For The ICC World Cup 2023; Says 'Multiple Questions Are Popping Up'

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra talked about Team India’s preparation for the ICC World Cup 2023. He said that there are still multiple questions that are popping up ahead of the tournament despite most of things being right.
Aakash Chopra revealed that he recently had a conversation with Harsha Bhogle about India’s preparation for the ICC World Cup 2023. He pointed out that three months before they pointed out that upcoming games will be important for the team.
However, they were surprised with the way India picked their playing XI for the three ODIs against West Indies. Aakash Chopra also highlighted Ravindra Jadeja’s form with the bat as one of the biggest concerns for India going into the tournament.
Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained: “I was having a discussion with Harsha Bhogle. He recalled that three months ago it was being said that the next 12 matches are very important keeping the World Cup in mind. In the three matches in the West Indies, it seemed playing XIs were picked for fun. Here as well, things were pretty much the same.
“Who said that these 12 matches are very important? There are multiple questions that keep popping up. One thought is that no questions were left. Jadeja’s form with the bat was the only concern; the other boxes have been ticked. Okay, fine.”
India in the last few ODIs has been playing a prolific brand of cricket. They won the Asia Cup 2023 and also clinched the three-match ODI series against Australia by the margin of 2-1.
India attempted to not expose him a lot – Aakash Chopra on Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav was part of the Indian XI for the third ODI against Australia after being rested for two games. However, India didn’t use him to the full extent in the match as they made him bowl only 6 overs.
Aakash Chopra believes that India didn’t want to expose Kuldeep Yadav to Australia ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023. He also said that the Pat Cummins-led side are confused about playing between Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey and Jos Inglis.
“Kuldeep played the match but India made an attempt to not expose him a lot. He picked up two wickets while Jasprit Bumrah also claimed three.
“Australia should have made 400, but ended up with 352 as there was a batting collapse later. They are not sure about whether to play Carey, Inglis, Marcus Stoinis or Cameron Green. They don’t seem to have much of an idea.”
India will open their campaign against Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 on 8th October in Chennai.
