Afghanistan have roped in former India batsman Ajay Jadeja as their mentor for the ICC World Cup 2023. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) made the announcement on Monday (October 2), two days before the start of the marquee event.
The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19. A total of ten teams are featured in the event including Afghanistan. Afghanistan made their debut in the World Cup in 2015 and qualified for the 2019 edition too.
In 2015, they managed to win just 1 of their 6 group-stage games. In 2019, Afghanistan performed well but failed to register any wins. They lost all of their 9 league matches although they received praise from several quarters for their gutsy display. Afghanistan have further improved themselves since then and are more than capable of beating any team on their day.
