Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir said the Rohit Sharma-led team has a good chance to clinch the title in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. Gautam Gambhir expressed his hope that India could win the ODI World Cup with the prayers of 140 crore Indians.

The ODI World Cup will be played in India between October 5 and November 19. The Men in Blue will be one of the favourites in the marquee tournament, considering their familiarity with the conditions. India lifted the trophy when they last hosted an ICC ODI event in 2011.

Gautam Gambhir Offers Prayers In Tirupati On Tuesday

Gautam Gambhir and his wife, Natasha, visited Tirupati and participated in the Suprabhata Seva. The temple authorities warmly welcomed them and made special arrangements. The temple officials honoured the couple with vestments and presented theertha prasads.

Following darshan, Vedic scholars blessed them in the temple’s mandapam. Many fans gathered to take selfies and photos with the former Indian cricketer. He also spoke outside the temple.

“All of us wish India the very best. I am sure with 140 crore Indians praying for the team, they will definitely do a very good job and India has a very good chance of winning the World Cup,” Gautam Gambhir said.

Gautam Gambhir was part of India’s World Cup-winning campaign in 2011 at home. The left-handed batter scored a crucial 97-run knock against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He scored 393 runs in nine innings with an average of 43.67 and a strike rate of 85.06.

Gautam Gambhir To Join Kolkata Knight Riders Ahead Of IPL 2024

The cricketer-turned-politician is expected to join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coaching staff before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The left-handed batter worked as a mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the last two editions of the tournament.

“Yes, Gautam Gambhir is likely to just take a break for the next IPL to political commitments. He is not moving to a different team or leaving franchises. There will be a lot of political work involved in the build-up to the Lok Sabha elections, so he wants to focus all his energies towards that.”

“Gautam is a big face for BJP in Delhi and elsewhere also his popularity is right up there. So he will be actively involved in election work next year and will not have enough time for the IPL,” a source told CricketNext in August.
