Bangladesh has encountered injury concerns within the camp ahead of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023, set to commence on October 5 in India. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the practice matches in the tournament due to injury.
Bangladesh is currently facing off against the Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka team in their first warm-up match in Guwahati on September 29. All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz is leading the national team in the practice match in the absence of regular skipper Shakib.
Shakib Al Hasan At Risk Of Missing Game Against Afghanistan – Reports
Bangladesh sports journalist Saif Ahmed reported that Shakib Al Hasan sustained a foot injury during a practice session. Saif mentioned that Shakib is unavailable for both practice matches and is at risk of missing the first World Cup game against Afghanistan.
“Skipper Shakib Al Hasan suffered a foot injury during practice session last night. He won’t take part in the practice match and also in a bit of risk of missing the first WC game against Afghanistan,” wrote the caption.

The Bangla Tigers will face the Jos Buttler-led England in their second warm-up match at the same venue on October 3. The team will be hoping to gain confidence before the start of the World Cup, as they are coming off a series loss against New Zealand at home.
Bangladesh To Take On Afghanistan On October 7
The Shakib Al Hasan-led team will commence their campaign with a clash against Afghanistan at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on October 7. Their fourth group-stage encounter will be against India in Pune on October 19.
Opener Litton Das was the vice-captain of the team. Former skipper Tamim Iqbal failed to make it into the 15-member squad as he hadn’t fully recovered from the back injury. All-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad made a comeback for the nationals at the marquee event.
