Misbah-Ul-Haq Rips Apart Babar Azam And PCB Days Before ICC World Cup 2023 Begins
The former head coach of the Pakistan National Cricket Team and the head of the PCB Cricket Committee, Misbah-ul-Haq has talked to the media to express his concerns over decisions being made in the PCB without taking his inputs into consideration. Misbah-ul-Haq asserted that he was not involved in the selection of Pakistan’s squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Misbah-ul-Haq was also worried about his input not being considered for determining the central contract for the players. PCB announced the successful negotiation of the central contracts with the players recently, and apparently, Misbah-ul-Haq’s inputs were ignored by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
“I also have concerns about this. They decided previously with the team management. We also can’t understand this decision and there is no input from us,” Misbah said. “I also have reservations about the central contract, it wasn’t my input,” he added.
Misbah-Ul-Haq’s Concerns Over The Central Contract
Misbah-ul-Haq argued during the determination of the central contract that key players of a specific format should be placed in the top category of the central contract. However, that was not followed given that Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan are placed in the top category of the central contract.
“Key members of particular format should be in the top category of the central contract,” Misbah said. “The composition of the team is the responsibility of the selection committee and management. The chairman has shown full support; inquiries should be directed to them,” he added.
Pakistan Cricket Board announced four categories for the central contracts and selected players based on their importance to the team. They didn’t consider the point made by the head of the Cricket Committee which is very strange. Is there any rift between Misbah and PCB? We all know that Misbah-ul-Haq resigned from Pakistan’s head coach’s position in 2021 hinting towards a rift with the PCB.
Even in the World Cup squad selection process, Misbah was not asked for his input which is not the way you treat the head of the Cricket Committee. All these things point towards something that is going on between the PCB and Misbah-ul-Haq.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Team is in India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They will face the Netherlands in their first match on 6th October in Hyderabad and will be hunting for their second World Cup title having previously won the tournament in 1992 under the leadership of Imran Khan.
