Morne Morkel To Join World Cup Bound Pakistan Team In Dubai, Mickey Arthur Set To Join Squad In India: Reports

The Pakistan Cricket Team has reportedly departed for India to play in the ICC World Cup 2023. They were issued their visas after a brief delay. Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq is said to have played a pivotal role in resolving long-standing problems between the players and the PCB.
Meanwhile, as per reports the PCB has confirmed that Morne Morkel, the fast bowling coach of the team will join the squad in Dubai while Team Director Mickey Arthur will directly join the team in India. The South Africa-born Arthur was appointed as team director in April this year.

Arthur has been instrumental in selecting Grant Bradburn as the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team along with a set of support staff who will be assisting the team during the World Cup.

The PCB is said to have reached a consensus with the Pakistan players regarding central contracts. The board has not yet disclosed the details of the new contracts. The players had raised objections to various central contract provisions, including a raise in the monthly salary of the national cricketers.
The resolve between the two parties came in the knick of time with the visas also being arranged. Previously, players had threatened to move out from sponsorship promotions and not sport logos on their World Cup jerseys after The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) failure to clear the payments of the players.
As per reports in Cricket Pakistan, the players have not received their payments of match fees for the last four months. Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam that the negotiations are still being discussed and he is hopeful about a positive result.
“As far as the contracts are concerned, they are still being negotiated, but we are hopeful they will work out as the PCB always has our interests at heart” said Babar before leaving for India.
Pakistan begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad. They take on India in the big clash in Ahmedabad on September 14.
