Naseem Shah Undergoes Shoulder Surgery In London, Recovery To Take 4-6 Weeks

Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah underwent surgery in London to treat his injured shoulder. Naseem Shah will take 4-6 weeks to recover from the surgery as doctors have advised him to rest for the said time before restarting his practice.

Naseem Shah sustained a shoulder injury during Asia Cup 2023. Due to the injury, he was also ruled out of the Asia Cup tournament. Later, he was ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2023 as well.

Naseem Shah Undergoes Shoulder Surgery In London

Naseem Shah has underwent surgery in London. According to the report, the surgery took half an hour. The doctors have advised him to rest for 4-6 weeks. Post the rest period, Shah can restart his practice.

Naseem Shah was a regular part of Pakistan in ODIs and T20Is in 2023. However, his injury came out as a big blow for Pakistan ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023. Earlier, Shah also shared on X that he was disappointed to miss the World Cup.

“With a heavy heart, I’m sharing that I will not be part of this amazing team that will be representing our beloved country. While I’m disappointed, I believe everything is in Allah’s hands. InshahAllah will be on the field very soon,” the Pakistan pacer had shared on X.

The 20-year-old pacer picked 22 wickets in 11 ODIs in 2023 at an average of 19.63 and an economy of 4.80. He has been replaced by Hasan Ali in the World Cup squad. Notably, Hasan Ali has not played any ODIs this year.

In the absence of Naseem Shah, pacers like Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi will have a lot of responsibility in the pace department. Pakistan will face the Netherlands in their first match of the ICC World Cup 2023 on October 6.

Recently, Pakistan lost their both warm-up matches. The Babar Azam-led side lost to New Zealand by 5 wickets in their first warm-up match. Later, they lost to Australia by 14 runs in their next practice match.
